Shannon Hartig CHA

Shannon Hartig, Director of Operations.  Growing up in the industry, Shannon has a love of hospitality in her blood.  She studied at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration with an emphasis on Operational Analysis.   This gives her the expertise to asses the various aspects of a property’s operation including financials, revenue enhancement, human resources and expenses and devise a plan to bring a hotel to its maximum potential.

Shannon has also been a Certified Hotel Administrator by the American Hotel and Lodging Association for fifteen years and believes strongly in continuing her education by attending various seminars and classes on a regular basis to ensure that her expertise remains cutting edge. She specializes in using technology and the web to enhance a property’s sales and in developing a revenue generation and social market strategy to keep the property at the top of its competitive set.

Finally Shannon believes in working with the community to improve the overall market. She was part of the effort to implement the $2.00 transient occupancy tax which involved numerous trips to the state General Assembly to create WADMC which now provides a multi-million dollar advertising fund for Williamsburg tourism. In addition she was elected to serve two terms as President of the Williamsburg Hotel/Motel Association in 2005 and 2006. Shannon has been asked by Busch Gardens to make presentations to James City County on their behalf and has also worked with York Country on behalf of the hospitality industry. She currently serves on the Williamsburg Area Chamber and Tourism Alliance Board of
Directors and Executive Committee.
